Mobile phones

Due to forth coming legislation, all children are discouraged from bringing ‘Mobile phones’ into club. The parent/carers can always contact us, should they wish to speak to their child. Children are discouraged because they could take indecent photographs, record inappropriate conversations and take video clips of other children inadvertently. These could be easily placed on social network websites, without the necessary consent and full knowledge of the other children and their family or friends. This could be accessed by sinister people and inherently dangerous to the child’s welfare.

All phones found will be confiscated and placed in the office, until the child’s parent/carer collects them.

Stamps

Thank you to all of you who collected stamps’ which went to the ‘GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND’.

Babysitting Service

We offer a babysitting service which is run by the ‘ALL’ the staff here at OPC LTD. All staff are fully qualified in Childcare, many too qualified, but it’s a service we are very proud to offer ‘all’ our parents and carers. This service is run totally separate from OPC LTD and we charge very reasonable rates. The contract is purely between you and the sitter and OPC Ltd can’t be held liable or responsible. For further details please enquire within or use our contact page. Babysitting is subject to availability of each sitter, therefore advance bookings are required, but not always essential!

Parents “not bothered” to save thousands on childcare costs

Only two per cent of working parents are using childcare vouchers to save up to £2,400 a year on their childcare costs, a survey has revealed.

The survey of 1,200 parents, carried out by childcare voucher specialist Childcare Choice, has found that most parents who pay for childcare and have access to a childcare scheme at work haven’t signed up to the scheme because they believe it would cause them too much hassle or they think they do not have time to apply.

The research also revealed that parents have no idea how much money they could be saving, with a quarter believing the vouchers would save them less than £500 a year.

Iain McMath, managing director of Childcare Choice, said that only two in 100 parents had signed up to the scheme. He added, “With most working parents unaware of the savings available, it’s no wonder they don’t make the time to sign up to the scheme.

“Childcare vouchers don’t cost anything for employers or employees to set-up.”

HM Revenue and Customs said that it did not keep figures of the take-up of childcare vouchers, which are tax-free and exempt from National Insurance under the salary sacrifice scheme introduced by the Government in April 2005.

A report by the National Audit Office has found that 5 per cent of taxpayers are not paying the right amount of income tax.

The report, published in July 07, said that the errors in assessing one million taxpayers resulted in an estimated £125 million of tax underpayments and £157 million in overpayments during 2006-07.
